2006 All-Fraternity All-American Basketball Team

 

The honorees are from NCAA Divisions I, II and III. Nominations were submitted to the NIC website and also came from Greek Advisors, Interfraternity Councils, fraternity headquarters and sports information directors, in addition to research done by Jay Langhammer, Director, NIC Sports

 

                                     NCAA Division I First Team

 

Center—Chris Ayer, Loyola Marymount (Beta Theta Pi)—Winner of team’s

     Mr. Hustle Award; led in blocked shots (38); second in rebounding (189, 6.3);        

     scored 284 points (9.4); fourth in minutes played (742); started all 30 games

Forward—Matt Kiefer, Purdue (Sigma Phi Epsilon)—All-Big Ten second team;

     team MVP; led in scoring (335 points, 12.0), rebounding (209, 7.5), blocks 

     (30) and steals (27); second in assists (49); third in minutes played (811)

ForrwardDavid Noel, North Carolina (Kappa Alpha Psi)All-Atlantic Coast

     Conference second team; led in minutes (1,045); second in rebounding

     (211, 6.8), assists (107) and steals (34); third in scoring (400 points, 12.7)

Guard—Ross Schraeder, California-Irvine (Pi Kappa Alpha)—All-Big West

     Conference honorable mention; fourth in Division I three-point shots (47.1%);

     led in scoring (381 points, 13.1) and free throws (86.4%); third in minutes

Guard--Mike Lang, Dartmouth (Theta Delta Chi)--All-Ivy League second team;

     co-captain; named team's Outstanding Offensive Player; led in scoring (294 points, 10.9);

     minutes played (794); assists (78); and steals (29); led Ivy League in three-point shooting (42.1%)

Coach of the Year—Jim Les, Bradley (Delta Upsilon)

 

                                 NCAA Division II-III First Team

 

Center—Keelan Amelianovich, Illinois Wesleyan (Sigma Chi)—College Div.

     All-American first team; All-CCIW first team; led in scoring (596 points, 18.6),

     three point goals (97) and minutes (1,141); third in rebounding (141, 4.1)

Forward—Eric Dickinson, Oglethorpe (Kappa Alpha Order)—All-SCAC third

     team; led in scoring (481 points, 19.2); second in rebounding (127, 5.1); third

     In assists (61) and minutes (755)

Forward—Tom Schneider, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Zeta Psi)

     Liberty League Player of the Year; led in scoring (451 points, 18.0), rebounds

     (268, 10.7), minutes (795), steals (43) and free throw shooting (81.6%)

Guard—Adam Dauksas, Illinois Wesleyan (Sigma Chi)—College Div. All-

     American first team and Academic All-American of the Year; CCIW Most

     Outstanding Player; led in minutes (1,141), assists (204), steals (35); third in

     scoring (435 points, 13.6

Guard—Calvin Kappels, Nebraska-Omaha (Pi Kappa Alpha)—Div. II All-North

     Central Region second team; All-North Central Conference first team; led in

     scoring (469 points, 15.6), rebounding (205, 6.8), assists (129) and steals (63)
