NIC Recognition Programs
NIC Gold Medal, Silver medal, laurel wreath award
One of the many grand traditions of the fraternal world is the presentation of the NIC Gold Medal and Silver Medal at the Annual Meeting in Washington DC. The recognition of the accomplishments and influence of the men and groups who receive the awards is a very important responsibility of the conference. The three highest awards that the conference can bestow are the NIC Gold Medal, Silver Medal, and Laurel Wreath Award.
NIC GOLD MEDAL
The NIC Gold Medal was first presented in 1940. The medal is presented in recognition of lifetime service to the fraternity movement. Past recipients of the Gold Medal are models of selfless service, visionary leadership, and courage of conviction. When considering nominations, the awards committee take into account tenure of service, interfraternal leadership, and a dedication to advancing the fraternal movement.
NIC SILVER MEDAL
The Silver Medal is presented in recognition of specific acts of service or leadership in a project or task. For nearly 30 years the Silver Medal has recognized those leaders who have taken the lead role or roles in accomplishing a task that has advanced the movement.
Laurel Wreath
The Laurel Wreath Award is presented to individuals or groups in recognition of unique programs, collaborations, or outreach that have advanced the mission of fraternity. The Laurel Wreath award is meant to bring attention and awareness to fraternal pursuits which are in the best traditions of our conference.
In order to submit a nomination for the NIC Medals or the Laurel Wreath please send materials supporting the candidate(s) and a letter endorsing the nomination from the Inter/National organization to NIC Headquarters. This process is purposefully open so as to allow for any materials that the nominator believes highlight the efforts of the nominee.
