What do I need to do?
Step One: Register for the NIC Annual Meeting
If you want to attend the entire Annual Meeting, attend one of the luncheons or dinners, participate in the lobbying efforts on the Hill, or attend the House of Delegates – you need to start by registering. The Deadline is March 28, 2008.
Step Two: Make Hotel Arrangements
The NIC’s conference will be hosted at the Wardman Park Marriott hotel in Washington, D.C. Please find the phone number and web address below to make the appropriate arrangements.

Step Three: Do you want a private tour of U.S. Holocaust Museum?
The president of the NIC Board, Marc Katz, has given us the opportunity to have a private tour of the U.S. Holocaust Museum at 2pm on Saturday, April 12, 2008. You must register for this even prior to March 28, 2008.
Step Four: Do you want to participate in the Congressional Visits on the Hill?
You must go through the registration process for the NIC Annual Meeting if you wish to participate in the Congressional Visits Tuesday, April 15, 2008. You must attend the Legislative Training on Monday, April 14, 2008 from 2pm-5pm. Due to the demand of involvement once you are placed on a team you will be contacted by Patton Boggs. Registration for this closes March 7, 2008.

Registration materials were mailed to all NIC, NALFO, NPC, NPHC AND AFA members on January 20, 2008. The registration deadline is March 28, 2008; late fees of 25% will be applied after that date. The regular registration fee includes: Laurel Wreath Luncheon, Awards Dinner & Reception, Congressional Reception and the participation in either Executive/President or Volunteer/Student Symposiums.

March 28, 2008 – Regular Registration Deadline
Registrations, with accompanying payments, postmarked or received by (online/fax/email) by this date qualify for the regular registration rate. All registrations postmarked or received after this date are subject to late fees; equal to 25% of total fees.
Cancellation Policy
There is a 25% Administrative Cancellation Fee.

President/Volunteer Symposium: “Board Management: Tricks of the Trade”
The Board Presidents/Volunteer Symposium will focus on board and CEO relations, effective board management and the involvement of volunteers. These discussions will be lead by Miriam
Carver, who is widely considered an expert on Policy Governance®. Miriam Carver has co-authored Reinventing Your Board: A Step by Step Guide to Implementing Policy Governance and A New Vision of Board Leadership: Governing the Community College, as well as several booklets in the Jossey-Bass CarverGuide Series on Effective Board Governance.
Executive Symposium: “What Happens When Channel 2 Knocks on My Door?”
Each fraternity needs to be prepared to respond to media inquiries. Our time together will focus on preparing a strategy, practicing a response, and managing the stakeholders throughout the process.
