Kelly Wesley Taylor, J.D. - Trek Advancement, LLC
Kelly is a steward of philanthropy. At the age of eighteen she took the advice of a Kappa Alpha Theta peer mentor and joined the Student Development Council at the University of Kentucky. This experience introduced her to her professional calling. As an undergraduate student Kelly served as the service chair and president of the Gamma Iota Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta. Following graduation, she travelled across the US and Canada to represent her Fraternity as an Educational Leadership Consultant. She went on to receive her JD from the University of Louisville with the specific intent to focus her practice on charitable gift planning.
Kelly began her professional career at Harvard University, starting with the Harvard College Fund and then moving into the role of associate director for University Planned Giving. In 2007 she was recruited back to Kentucky to lead the successful completion of the $80 million inaugural capital campaign for the James Graham Brown Cancer Center at U of L. During her tenure there she also served as the interim director of philanthropic planning.
Following her year working as a traveling consultant Kelly’s involvement with Kappa Alpha Theta continued serving as collegiate chapter advisory board chairman, alumnae chapter executive boards, facilitating special projects and volunteering one term as a trustee for the Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation. Kelly has tremendous gratitude for the two scholarships she received from the Theta Foundation for both her undergraduate and graduate education.
In 2010 she launched her firm Trek Advancement, LLC focusing her practice on developing good givers and good receivers of philanthropy. Kelly currently resides in Lexington, Kentucky with her husband Darren.
