SAE Quarterback Wins Anson Mount Scholar/Athlete Award
The September issue of Playboy features its annual Pigskin Preview and the announcement that quarterback Greg McElroy of Alabama, a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, is the 2010 winner of the Anson Mount Scholar-Athlete Award as the player who has shined both on the football field and in the classroom. A major in business marketing, graduate school student McElroy has an overall 3.86 GPA with a perfect 4.0 last year, while leading the Crimson Tide to the national championship. He returns this fall for his final season of football eligibility and Alabama's general scholarship fund is the recipient of a $5,000 scholarship in his honor. Named as the Pigskin Preview's Coach of the Year is TCU head coach Gary Patterson, a member of Acacia at Kansas State, and linebacker Michael Mohamed, an SAE from California-Berkeley, is a pre-season All-American first team selection.
