Recent New Music From Greek Musicians
Quite a few singers and groups with ties to NIC member fraternities have released new compact discs over the summer months. In recent months, Radney Foster (Phi Gamma Delta at University of the South) reunited with former partner Bill Lloyd and created "It's Already Tomorrow" as Foster & Lloyd's first CD since the late 1980's. . Pop singer David Cook(Phi Sigma Kappa at the University of Central Missouri) released his second major CD, "This Loud Morning", on June 28th and country singer Rich O'Toole (Kappa Alpha Order at Texas A&M) released new CD "Kiss of a Liar" on July 19th. Last week, USA Today profiled Luke Bryan (Sigma Chi at Georgia Southern) with the headline "Is Luke Bryan country's next star?" to help announce the release of his nlatest CD, "Tailgates and Tanlines", on August 10th. This week saw the new CD by Eli Young Band, titled "Life at Best" (featuring 14 songs) in music stores. All four group members are Sigma Nus from the University of North Texas.
Two of the biggest names in country music are awaiting the upcoming release of new compact discs this fall. Lady Antebellum, featuring co-lead singer Charles Kelley (Lambda Chi Alpha at the University of Georgia), will have their new music out on "Own the Night", which will be in music stores September 13th. Tim McGraw (Pi Kappa Alpha at Louisiana-Monroe) finished his latest CD, "Emotional Traffic", months ago and the disc is scheduled for release within several months. Another country singer, David Nail (Pi Kappa Alpha at Arkansas State), has been in the recording studio and should have his second major CD out by the end of the year.
