TV icon and motion picture star Will Ferrell, a member of Delta Tau Delta at the University of Southern California, has been chosen as the 14th recipient of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor and will be honored at Washington, D.C.'s Kennedy Center on Sunday, October 23rd. The televised event will feature other leading entertainers paying tribute to Ferrell and proceeds from the event will be used to support the Kennedy Center's programs, performances and outreach activities. Past winners of the Mark Twain Prize have included Steve Martin, Billy Crystal, Bill Cosby, Carl Reiner, Bob Newhart, Whoopi Goldberg, Tina Fey and Richard Pryor.

In addition to his busy motion picture schedule, Ferrell co-founded the Funny or Die video website in 2007 and frequently appears in short comedy sketches. This fall, he will again host an annual golf tournament for the Cancer for College charity, which is run by Ferrell's USC Delt chapter brother Craig Pollard, a two-time cancer survivor. Ferrell has called Cancer for College "one of the purest charities he has ever seen" and calls his involvement in the golf tournament a highlight of his year. Since its inception in 1993, Cancer for College has provided over $750,000 in scholarships to more than 700 cancer survivors and amputees.
