2012 Greeks in the Olympics
The 2012 Olympic Games will take place in London July 27th through August 12th and several alumni from NIC member fraternities will participate as athletes and coaches. The TEAM USA water polo squad features three Kappa Alpha alumni from Stanford: team captain Tony Azevedo, Peter Hudnut and Peter Varellas. Stanford Sigma Alpha Epsilon twins Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan are the top players for the US tennis squad and Northwestern Delta Tau Delta alumnus Jake Herbert is a member of the wrestling team. Phi Kappa Psi alumnus Jerry Colangelo is Managing Director of the TEAM USA basketball squad and Delta Upsilon's Jim Boeheim is one of the two assistant basketball coaches. In a related item, LSU Kappa Alpha Order member Mark LeBlanc will compete in London's Paralympic Games August 31st through September 9th. He is a member of the US sailing team.
