ATO’s Lee Corso Wins Award
Lee Corso, an Alpha Tau Omega at Florida State University, has been named winner of the National College Football Awards Association's Contributions to College Football Award. Prior to becoming an intergral part of ESPN's College Game Day telecasts, he was head football coach at Louisville, Indiana and Northern Illinois. Corso was just named for induction into the Indiana University Athletics Hall of Fame.
Two Greeks Finish Strong at PGA Tour Event
The PGA Deutsche Bank Championship in Norton, MA wrapped up on Monday with Luke Donald, a member of Sigma Chi from Northwestern University, tying for second after four rounds in the 60's (65-66-67-69). His earnings were $560,000 and moved him up to fifth place in the Fedex Cup Standings. Tying for fifth place at the Deutsche Bank event was Brandt Snedeker, a member of Kappa Alpha Order at Vanderbilt University, who won $273,750.
Sigma Chi’s Bob Griese Wins Davey O’Brien Legends Award
Longtime NFL quarterback and TV analyst Bob Griese, a member of Sigma Chi at Purdue University, is the 2010 recipient of the Davey O'Brien Legends Award, which recognizes a college or pro QB who has made a significant contribution to the game, distinguished himself as an extraordinary leader and demonstrated exemplary conduct on and off the field. O'Brien, who passed away in 1977, was the 1938 Heisman Trophy winner while at TCU, played two NFL seasons and was an alumnus initiate of Sigma Phi Epsilon at his alma mater.
