NIC Resolution
Section 4 of the By Laws
Member fraternities may accept petitions for a charter from and grant charters to eligible local chapters in accredited colleges or universities. Upon receipt and acceptance of such petition, a member fraternity may give written notice to the Conference of such acceptance, identifying the local chapter and the institution with which it is related. Upon receipt by the conference of such notice, the local chapter shall be subject to the rules of comity set forth in Section 3, except that the elapsed time from the date of resignation or disassociation shall be three years instead of five years. A petition may not be accepted unless it has been approved by both the undergraduate and alumni components of the local chapter.
This amendment was approved by the NIC House of Delegates in December 1999.
